ALL ABOUT PIECE + POINTE

Hi there! I'm Julie, the creative mind behind Piece + Pointe. 

My life-long passion for sewing and creating has led me on a unique path in both the dance and quilting worlds. 

 

I've always loved making costumes and special pieces where I can really let my creativity shine. When I couldn't find truly unique one-of-a-kind costumes for my three ballet-dancing daughters, it seemed only natural to jump into making ballet costumes myself.  Since those early days, I've focused on developing my skills through training and research, focusing particularly on fit and function. As a costumer, I am dedicated to creating unique costumes that not only enhance performances but also make dancers feel confident and empowered on stage.

After a memorable early misstep in quilting (note: having the correct tools actually does make a difference!), I decided to give quilting a second shot.  I discovered that quilting allowed me to explore my creativity in a different way, blending colors, patterns, and textures to craft quilts that tell a story. I was so lucky to find mentors in the quilting world willing to share their knowledge and experience. Since then, I have gone all-in on quilting, attending numerous workshops with national and international teachers. I take great joy in working closely with my clients to create quilts that capture precious memories and are destined to become cherished heirlooms.
